Controlling the humidity of cupola blast air.

With the installation of a dehumidifier, U.S. Foundry lowered coke consumption requirements for a more cost-effective cupola operation.

The operation of a foundry cupola can be influenced by the weather; specifically, the ambient relative humidity can have a substantial effect on several performance measures. If the moisture content of the air entering the cupola is high, the operation is adversely affected, whereas on a dry day, when the air entering the cupola is low in moisture, beneficial effects can be noted.
