Scrap pressures continue.
Many factors have caused a dramatic increase in ferrous scrap prices, and there little indication that these pressures will ease soon.
Improving business conditions have their cost. In the case of ferrous foundries, that cost is coming in the rising price of raw materials. The most noticeable and disconcerting at this time is that of iron and steel scrap. And, if nothing else, the current ferrous scrap situation provides a good lesson in the economics of supply and demand.
